At Darebin Trade Services, we are proud to be one of Melbourne’s leading installers of the Braemar Dominator Series. This product has allowed us to offer electric heating systems at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional ducted reverse cycle systems. The Dominator is specifically designed to work with existing gas heating ductwork, which is often smaller than that required for a ducted reverse cycle system. This innovation saves our customers the hassle and expense of re-ducting their entire home, installing new vents, or carrying out extensive plasterwork.
What We Love About the Braemar Dominator
At Darebin Trade Services, we are committed to providing our customers with the best options. Many homeowners have been left with no choice but to install individual split systems. However, the Braemar Dominator has changed the game, allowing us to install a ducted reverse cycle system in homes where it previously wasn’t an option. Thanks to its ability to work with smaller ducting and vents, we can now offer a solution for homes that would have been told they couldn’t have a ducted system.
The Dominator can also be installed as either an internal or external system, making it an excellent choice for homes with limited underfloor access. For many of these homes, opting for an electric system would typically require ceiling installation— something the Dominator bypasses with ease.
Site Inspection Is Key
While the Braemar Dominator is a fantastic option for many homes, it’s important to note that it should never be installed without a proper site inspection. Each home is unique, and the requirements for each installation vary. At Darebin Trade Services, we offer a free site visit where we carefully assess your home and review the following:
Existing ducting
Insulation of existing ducting and connections
Zoning requirements
Return air grill, filter, and ducting
Installation location suitability
Vent placement and Dominator requirements
Any necessary electrical work

The Importance of Zoning with the Braemar Dominator
For larger homes, we highly recommend utilizing zoning to enhance the efficiency of the Braemar Dominator. While the unit is designed to both heat and cool, it performs better as a heater, with 17kW of heating power compared to 13.2kW for cooling. In larger homes, the cooling capabilities may not adequately cool the entire space, making zoning a wise choice. For smaller homes, zoning may not be as critical, but it can still improve system performance. Why Choose the Braemar Dominator?
